Hey Kevin,
You should start a new zone in Critical Listening mode to enable viewing the quality on the Now Playing screen during playback. Also, when you open Amazon Music in our app, in the main list at the bottom there’s a “Settings” option, and tapping that will give you a chance to edit the streaming quality. When it’s set to HD or higher, you’ll see the quality of what’s coming in on the Now Playing screen.
We’re working on an update to show the highest available quality in the browsing view (before starting playback), so that’ll give you a better idea when picking content.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried doing this and it is still not showing the quality of what’s coming in. Does this have to do with fact that Amazon Music HD is not yet available in Canada?
I am on iOS Play-Fi App, using Amazon Music Unlimited.

Correct, if Amazon hasn’t brought the service to your region yet (and likewise if its available but a user hasn’t upgraded to HD on their account), then you’ll get their standard streaming quality.

Any chance the app with be upgraded to be at par with, for example Tidal?
Simple features like Go to Album from a track or Add a track to Favorites are not available on the Amazon Music part of the App. Seem like the Amazon Music part of the App is way behind the others.

When I add my Klipsch Powergate to the current speaker it often is on full volume which is enough to blow almost any speaker. Can you please fix glaring problems like this before adding features no one wants? Making business deals will not make this platform better.

Hey Ryan,
I guess this might be a little off-topic for this article, but there is a setting in our Advanced Settings right at the top that’s called “Adjust Volume on Connection”. This setting, when enabled, will make whatever joins that session inherit whatever the Master volume level is. So if it’s linking to a speaker that has the volume all the way up, it might adjust that way, or if this feature is disabled and the PowerGate defaults to a max volume state (or if it ignores our volume override commands), then it will join at the last known volume if the master zone volume is actually lower. I’d advise configuring this setting to whatever best meets your situation’s needs.
If you want to check the volume of the unit before joining it to the session, you can also use the Remote Volume option to see what its current volume status is, and adjust it.
We also have grouping and Presets functions that allow you to set the volume to a fixed state per unit when starting the zone, so this could also be a solution, depending on how you’re typically listening to music.
If you have more feedback, need more help, or have specific questions on anything, we can talk more through our support contact email at: support@play-fi.com

It’s true that it is off topic, but you don’t offer us a support forum. This would be more preferable for everyone as we can look up your previous responses instead of waiting for emails that, in some cases, are not responded to. Posting support requests on feature announcements isn’t making anyone happy.
Play-Fi is used in speakers, streamling amplifiers and streaming pre-amplifiers. I happen to have a combination and my pre-amplifier is connected to an integrated amplifier with its own volume control. It’s almost always set to close to max.
I’m going to disable “adjust volume on connection” and see what happens.

I purchased an Audiolab 6000N with Play-Fi. Compared to Tidal, the Amazon Music HD interface inside Play-Fi seems to offer a lot less features (it is impossible to queue songs for instance). Will it be improved? Will there be other “connect"down the pipeline as with Spotify, so that one can use the app as remote?

Some of that will depend on Amazon, as it’s their API we’ve integrated, and we are supporting all features they’ve made available. However, if you prefer the Amazon interface, we do support the Alexa Cast feature, which allows you to tap the Cast button in the full Amazon Music app, and select out products after you’ve registered them with your Amazon Account (no Alexa product required):

I was wondering whether theese two options are equivalent with resepct to audio quality: 1) to play Amazon Music HD from within DTS Play Fi; 2) use Amazon Music HD app and Alexa Cast. Is the music downloaded directly by Audiolab 6000N in both cases? Thanks!

This is great news, but I’m still limited by my iPhone’s ability to handle HD audio? I’m trying to get lossless audio through my Anthem MRX 1120.

Does Amazon Music not work in UK on PlayFi? If not, will it at some point (soon)?
