DTS Play-Fi Home Theater Launches on TVs
The first TVs to support DTS Play-Fi Home Theater hit the market offering flexible ways to build surround sound systems using the TV’s existing Wi-Fi connection and without additional cables, dongles or adapters. Consumers can:
Use a Play-Fi enabled soundbar, discrete Play-Fi enabled speakers or the TV’s built-in speakers as the front channels for the TV
Add Play-Fi enabled speakers as surround speakers to envelop the listener in sound
Add up to two Play-Fi enabled subwoofers, like the recently launched Philips TAW8506 Subwoofer, to bring deep, room-shaking bass to your TV
Utilize Play-Fi’s complementary functionality, like multi-room grouping of the TV with Play-Fi enabled speakers for music, TV audio and app-based headphone listening.

What our partners are saying
“Since 2020, Philips TV and Sound has been introducing a broad range of products featuring DTS Play-Fi enabling our customers to create a whole-home listening experience free of the wiring that has made it inaccessible to many consumers,” said Kostas Vouzas, CEO TP Vision (Philips TV & Sound), Europe & Americas. “The new and award-winning Play-Fi Home Theater functionality allows users to create high-performance home theatre systems using our outstanding wireless speakers and subwoofers in conjunction with our television and soundbar ranges that also feature this technology. More people will enjoy the benefits of immersive sound through the Wi-Fi connections they already have in their home.”
“Extending the reach of TV audio to other rooms or even to headphones is a limitation of many streaming audio systems,” said Jerry Liu, Vice President, Hisense International. “With DTS Play-Fi, Hisense customers can extend sound throughout the house, and even to their mobile phones, with lip-synced accuracy and no echoes between speakers.”
“DTS Play-Fi’s all-encompassing suite of music services and compatibility with multiple streaming platforms covers music lovers no matter how they like to listen," said Nick Brown, vice president, SVS. “By supporting wireless streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz, Play-Fi assures users can enjoy their music at the highest resolution possible from their SVS Prime Wireless Pro products for an uncompromised listening experience, just as the artists intended.”
